Empiricism & Its Discontents
Much to my surprise Kotzebue is very much on the grid and so I have access to the internet for just a few more days. We are flying out to Desperation on Monday, weather permitting, and thus much of this week was spent in preparing our gear, packing and repacking, seam sealing tents, and weighing everything. WE were just talking about you and your trip last night. so great to hear from you in the semi-wild! the flight to Desperation sounds too much like a book title. Kind of gives you some insight into the minds of those early settlers. Did you get enough fresh food in Anchorage? we are so excited to hear more about your exploits! It has been horribly hot here. I missed most of it because I was in San Francisco where it was 55 and foggy. I loved it. Jesse

There’s great produce in Anchorage now–some of which is organic–up here it is hit or miss! Apparently some people belong to CSAs that are shipped in by plane! Kotzebue is a veritable city though–as well as an arctic village, which = wonderful & complicated. I hope you can stay put for a while and enjoy the cool wave.
